More construction about to begin at The Square at Woodville West

South Australian developer and construction company Qattro will build 22 homes at The Square at Woodville West after winning a contract to deliver the second release of homes in the current stage of the project.

Stage 2 at The Square will offer a total of 81 new homes across three releases with a variety of homes ranging between $310,000 and $480,000, including cottages, two-storey townhouses and lofts.

Qattro has, this week, been awarded the contract to build 22 homes — following a Request for Proposal last year to build a range of two- and three-bedroom homes — at one of Adelaide’s newest and most sought-after neighbourhoods.

The second stage of The Square at Woodville West, which comprises three releases, is estimated to support about 85 direct and indirect jobs in 2015/16 and a further 38 jobs in 2016/17.

Renewal SA Acting Chief Executive Mark Devine said it was great to have Qattro on board.

“The Square at Woodville West is a hive of activity including construction of Stage 2 civil and landscape work, which was recently completed — providing a beautiful landscaped area of nearly 4,500 square metres including a four-metre wide shared path for pedestrians and cyclists,” Mr Devine said.

A total of 4,500 square metres of landscaped reserves have been planned for Stage 2. Now open to the public, the recently completed Linear Reserve along the rail corridor features a prominent rock wall, which overlooks the grassed kick-about area and footbridges connecting pedestrians and cyclists to the nearby Albert Park train station. Two additional smaller parks, still to be constructed, will provide pedestrian connections to Lawton Crescent and Frank Mitchell Park; and will be well used with purchasers set to move into their new homes over the course of this and next year.

“Construction of homes in the second stage of Woodville West is well under way, and it will be great to have leading South Australian developer Qattro build 22 of those homes, almost all of which have already been sold,” Mr Devine said.

“The Square at Woodville West offers high quality, architecturally designed homes; and the third-and-final release of homes in the second stage is already selling well.”

Managing Director of Qattro Bradley Jansen said, “We are very excited to be participating in the revitalisation of Woodville West.

“Renewal SA’s commitment to partnering with industry is resulting in building a better Adelaide, and in the process supporting economic activity and jobs growth. This project furthers our ability to invest back into the economy and contribute to the community through employment and training.”

As part of Renewal SA’s training and employment program, Qattro will provide four work experience placements and one new job for local people. Palumbo, which recently commenced the construction of 23 homes in the first release, will also provide four work experience placements and one new job.

The Renewal SA Works program provides opportunities for local people to and gain skills and experience working in industry after completing qualifications. Recent participants successfully completed work experience with T&J Constructions on site at Woodville West and gained employment.

A $5,000 deposit is required, with no more to pay until completion. The turn key homes include stainless steel appliances, ducted reverse-cycle air conditioning, high quality wool carpets, timber flooring and are fully landscaped.

Stage 3A, planned for development in 2017, is proposed to be a mixed-use residential and retail development including shops and cafes.

Woodville West is proposed to deliver approximately 425 new homes for approximately 700–800 people over the life of the project.
